Ingredients:

  1. Fish (cut into pieces) - 50 grams
  2. Onion (finely chopped) - 20 grams
  3. Tomato (finely chopped) - 10 grams

  5. Ginger (grated) - 1/2 inch piece (about 2 grams)
  6. Green chili (slit) - 1 small (about 2 grams)
  7. Coconut milk - 20 grams
  8. Tamarind paste - 1/2 teaspoon (about 2 grams)
  9. Oil - 1 teaspoon (about 4 grams)
  10. Salt - to taste (about 1 gram)
  11. Turmeric powder - 1/8 teaspoon (a pinch)
  12. Red chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  13. Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  14. Cumin powder - 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Fish: Marinate the fish pieces with a pinch of salt, turmeric, and red chili powder. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Base: Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves.
  3. Sauté: Add finely chopped onions, green chili, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add Tomatoes and Spices: Add tomatoes and cook until they soften. Add the remaining turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well.
  5. Coconut Milk and Tamarind: Add coconut milk and tamarind paste. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Cook the Fish: Add marinated fish pieces and a bit of water if the curry is too thick. Let it simmer until the fish is cooked through.
  7. Adjust Seasoning: Add salt to taste and adjust the consistency with water if needed. Cook for a few more minutes.
  8. Serve: Garnish with fresh curry leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
